It’s been a while since I posted a really good time lapse video, but this one may take the cake. It’s a video compiled of photos taken from the International Space Station. I don’t know exactly how many photos were used, but must be thousands. Space is such a beautiful sight to see.
My mind was just blown. I like to dabble in Photoshop here and there to play around, but this here my friends is serious business. Artist Alexander Koshelkov created a masterpiece called Luftbanza Airlines, which is a beuatuful wallpaper created using Adobe Photoshop CS6. In the video time lapse below, he gives a sneak peek into the steps he took to create it.
This time lapse video is taken from the NASA Space Station using imagery compiled by NASA’s Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth. It’s an amazing video, and well worth the watch for a view that is so rarely seen.
Imagine going around the world in one year backpacking through seventeen different countries over five continents all the time capturing it on your camera and then turning it into a time lapse video. Gizmodo reader Kien Lam did just that. He quit his job and with a one way ticket to London, he backpacked his way through Jordon, Egypt, Argentina, Turkey, Portugal, Morocco and more.
If you thought your commute in traffic was bad, well get ready for an awakening. This time lapse video was taken in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by Rob Whitworth who does a fantastic job of capturing the hurried craziness of the city.
Dei Gaztelumendi was commissioned to create the cover for Xabiroi Comic Book Magazine. During the process, he created a time lapse video. The details in his illustration are just remarkable. Dei had full creativity rights on what to make the cover about. So he did a spin on his Post-Apocalyptic Kids series. The end result is awesome.
In Washington state, the White Salmon of the Klamath River have become endangered because of the Condit Dam which stops river flow and the salmon from migrating to cold water springs. The White Salmon have gone from millions to less than one hundred thousand. The solution was to open up the Condit Dam to let the salmon go which also helps the local native american tribes who rely on the salmon for food and also the farmers who need the water for irrigation.
Every year in the summer months in Iceland the sun never fully sets and you get daylight 24 hours a day. Joe Capra, who is a time lapse cinematographer was able to capture 38,000 images images during this time and create a beautiful time lapse of Iceland’s “Midnight Sun”.
Here’s another awesome time lapse video. Created by Dustin Farrell, the video is taken in Arizona and Utah using a Canon 5D2 DSLR and motion control to create amazing imagery of some beautiful landscapes.
Here is yet another fascinating time lapse video, this time of the International Space Station as it orbits planet Earth at night. The video begins over the Pacific Ocean and continues over North and South America before entering daylight near Antarctica.
Over a period of six months Colin Rich created this time lapse video of the radiant lights of Los Angeles. Making the video didn’t go without incident as Colin says in the description, “First off, LA might be the entertainment capital of the world, but it sure is difficult to shoot around downtown without having homeland security officers, police, or security take notice and harass you. Know your shooting rights!” The video is brilliant and I’m happy that he went through all the trouble of creating it.
Here is another beautiful time lapse. This time it’s in Arctic, Norway. The video was filmed between April 29 and May 10, 2011 by TSO Photography and the focus was to capture the The Arctic Light which is a natural phenomenon occurring 2-4 weeks before you can see the Midnight Sun.
I am sure that anyone that follows my blog knows that I love time lapse videos. Here is a new one that is really cool and looks like a scene straight out of Star Wars. What makes this special is the video is shot at the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile’s Atacama Desert and shows laser beams generated from a telescope which is sent to the atmosphere to produce artificial stars. This is used for real time measurements against other stars and distortions that show up on the imaging.
Unreal. This has to be one of the best time lapse videos I have seen so far. There is something magical about the sky and the stars and it appears to be captured in this video which was shot in El Teide, Spain. Continue on to watch, you will just have to see for yourself.
I can never get enough of a good time lapse video. This one made by Ayrton Orio takes you around the world in 9 months and in 22 cities. Some of the countries that were traveled through were Bolivia, Peru, South Korea, Cambodia and others.
