Graffiti street artist Dover.D used his amazing skills to decorate Tel Aviv’s City Hall escalators with some colorful art that blends perfectly together as the escalators go up and down. I wish they would do stuff like this here in the U.S., like in Latin America where graffiti is encouraged and not frowned upon.
South America is known for a lot of things, but what I am starting to see more and more is how awesome the street art is. If you don’t know already, check out some of the street art in Bogota, Columbia. As for Brazil, 6emeia started a new project based around beautifying some of the neighborhood sewers in Barra Funda, turning them into masterful pieces of art. All the rad sewer artwork is done by Brazilian street artists, Anderson Augusto and Leonardo Delafuente.
In Bogota, Columbia, graffiti is an accepted form of art in the streets and isn’t really considered vandalism. In this video taken in downtown Bogota, watch as a few artists take an entire wall and create a masterful piece of art using spray cans, brushes, paint rollers and a lot of skills.
Street Art is a popular form of underground expression, that’s one of the reasons I love it so much. It’s raw and oversteps boundaries that not every artist is willing to take, so there is a level of risk and badassery that goes with it. In most societies especially here in the U.S., street art or better known as graffiti is frowned upon. Typically street art is painted over as it’s an illegal act of vandalism. I understand and in many cases agree with that, because some just look to cause trouble and vandalize property rather than create a piece of art.
You may have heard of him before, he goes by the name “Banksy”. Who is he? Nobody really knows his true identity as fact (at least publicly). I am sure someone in the world has a secret or two they are keeping with them to the grave. If you have heard the name Banksy before chances are you have seen his artwork too.
