11 of Fortune’s Top 40 under 40 are in the technology sector

Fortune just published their annual Top 40 under 40 list of entrepreneurs and business people. 11 of the 40 are in technology such as Mark Zuckerberg CEO of Facebook who tops the list. Some other not surprising names are Larry Page CEO of Google and Jack Dorsey Executive Chairman of Twitter. Facebook and Twitter are also two of the Top 10 Paying tech companies whose average employee salary is over $100K.

First rule of Fight Club - Don’t talk about Fight Club

I can’t believe this is real.  If you thought fight club was just a movie, you’re wrong.  If you think that the geeks in Silicon Valley are only about the interwebs and start ups, you’re wrong about that too.  This is a story about a real life fight club with real life people letting out aggression and stress of every day life in a cold looking garage with each other going toe to toe. You do have to give them some credit, how many people would really do this if given the opportunity?  It’s also sort of comical if you relate this to the Fight Club movie.  The similarities are uncanny.  It also reminds me of the movie Office Space, where they put the fax machine out of it’s misery; as they do with those dinosaur looking keyboards.

New White House initiative: Startup America

The White House announced a new entrepreneurship initiative today called Startup America.  The new initiative is supposed to encourage entrepreneurship all over the nation.  "The core goals of Startup America are to increase the number of new high-growth firms that are creating economic growth, innovation, and quality jobs; celebrate and honor entrepreneurship as a core American value and source of competitive advantage; and inspire and empower an ever-greater diversity of communities and individuals to build great American companies."
