You know that feeling when one day, you stick your hand in your jacket pocket that you haven’t worn for a while, and find $5 dollars and you are super excited? This is that; but with a lot more money.

In a new video published today by Google, they are giving us another look at the much anticipated Google Glass. If you recall, last year Google unveiled their latest venture, Project Glass which are interactive glasses (called Glass because it’s only one lens). The video raises expectations for the new product, which could further shape next gen technology such as the iPhone did a few years ago.
The photo wars continue to be no-less than dramatic, with Twitter now adding their own photo filters to their mobile apps on Android and Apple only days after Instagram said they were pulling their photo feed from Twitter. As a clear line in the sand is being drawn, the two networks are both clawing at the chance to offer the best photo sharing experience possible.
Tumblr has updated their mobile app again for iOS and Android with a major focus on making sharing as easy as possible. If you haven’t downloaded the update, go now!
My favorite Pinterest competitor, The Fancy, has a new suitor by the name of Apple. According to Business Insider, Apple is in talks to purchase the social commerce site. The purpose of the acquisition would be for Apple to place it’s foot further into the eCommerce space. And considering Apple’s failure in Ping, they are desperatley trying to get back into the social market.
Honda has coined it HondaLink, which integrates several social services directly into the dashboard of the new 2013 Honda Accord and Honda Crosstour. HondaLink will be using the Aha mobile app service to take these services and display them in the Honda vehicles.
Virtual image pinboard Pinterest is all the rage these days. It’s taken off like wildfire to much praise. I myself have doubted it success, however, it seems that Pinterest seems to be going strong. One thing though that has come up over and over again about Pinterest is that it’s used mostly by the female demographic, with women’s fashion, food recipes and the like dominating the space.
Welp, leave it up to Google to break the mold. At Google I/O, Google demoed Project Glass again, with yet another glimpse into what Google Glass can do, and Google held nothing back with this one.
You can’t say it wasn’t a valiant effort on the part of Apple. They tried hard to push Ping on us, which was their own social music hub, but it just didn’t work out. And with the next iTunes update, Ping won’t be able to sing anymore.
Yesterday was not a good day for LinkedIn who confirmed that 6.5 million passwords were hacked and then leaked to the web. Although it’s uncertain exactly what accounts have been compromised, LinkedIn urged all of it’s users to change their passwords immediately. However, more bad news has arrised that eHarmony was hacked too, with 1.5 million passwords being hacked and leaked as well from the online dating website.
On The Gavin Newsom Show, Google co-founder Sergey Brin brought along with him the top secret Google Glass (not glasses since it’s one lens only). In the hour long interview, Brin let Gavin Newsom try on the glasses and test them out on live TV. So far the glasses have been pretty hush-hush with images only, and one recent video that was a short clip of someone on a trampoline. Well now, we get more of a tease with a better up close and personal look at them.
comScore released their April 2012 Top 50 U.S. Web Properties and social blogging phenom Tumblr finally made it on the list! This is just another sign that Tumblr is growing exponentially. In the report, it shows that Tumblr is ranked number 47 with 23,507,000 million visitors for the month of April.
Could this be a sign that we are nearing the end of our beloved Instagram? Today Facebook launched their own Instagram-esque mobile photo sharing app, with photo filters and social tied directly into Facebook. The conundrum is that Facebook just acquired Instagram last month for $1 billion. What gives?
Anyone that uses Tumblr knows that there is a certain level of porn in your stream. Of course you have the choice to follow these users that post it or not, but sometimes it just happens. Or you could go hard, and check out the Tumblr porn tag search for loads of pornography (NSFW). It’s mostly spam, but again, many legit users post porn to the social blogging site and in a new lawsuit from the Perfect 10 porn company, they aren’t happy about the copyright infringements and are suing Tumblr for a lot of money.
As part of a new initiative on Tumblr which I first mentioned in February, Tumblr has launched a new program called Storyboard. Storyboard is a regular collection of featured Tumblr content found in the community. One of the first posts on Storyboard is about the Tumblr Dashboard, which is very interesting.
