This eight and a half minute video is from the point of view of the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster with sound mixing and enhancement done by the folks at Star Wars/Skywalker Sound. Watch as the shuttle reaches speeds of up to 3000mph! The sound is all from the camera microphones and not fake or replaced with foley artist sound. Amazing.
Moran Cerf is a neuroscientist who has shown how to project patients’ thoughts onto a screen in front of their eyes by implanting electrodes deep inside their brains and reading the activity of cells. Oh, and he used to rob banks. “There are at least two people inside our mind.”
Of all the Google Glass demo videos, photos, and stories going around, this one may be my favorite so far. It’s simplicity yet strong message that you can do anything with Glass, and share it in real-time (hands free!) while you are across the world, is quite powerful.
When I come across something or someone that inspires, I love to share it because at one time or another, we all need a little inspiration in our lives. What I find the most gratifying though is when I find inspiration from a child. Their so innocent, and for some, they are wise beyond their years.
Using the power of sound, and the flexibility of water, Brussups was able to create a really cool experiment that turns flowing water into a sine wave. The sine wave is not visible to the naked eye, but using a camera that shoots 24 frames per second, the sine wave is able to be seen.
Just a few days ago Code.org released a video with several world famous people, who all code or have coded in the past such as Bill Gates (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas), Chris Bosh (Miami Heat) promoting Code.org’s initiative that everyone should have the chance to learn how to code.
Overnight a meteor entered the Earth’s atmosphere and came down and struck Earth, in Central Russia, injuring over 900 people (possibly more). This sounds like a scene from a movie but it’s very real, and very scary. Imagine if this meteor were to hit a major metropolis city in the U.S., it would be devastating.
Add this to the list of the few inventions that can change an entire space, or the way we live. It may not seem like much, but the new Ultra Ever Dry is just one amazing product. I haven’t tried it (yet) but basing my opinion off of their demo video, it’s just insane what it does.
How awesome is this kid? Well, I shouldn’t say kid, but a 14 year old teenager. Santiago Gonzalez is an exception to the rule. He is fluent in many different programming languages, and by the time most teens are learning to drive he will have graduated from college and will be finishing up his masters degree. He says when he dreams at night, he figures out solutions to all the programming problems he might encountered during the day. A true prodigy.
The Blue Marble is a famous photograph of the Earth taken by the crew of Apollo 17 in 1972, which showed a super clear image of the Earth illuminated by the Sun in a view that was never seen before. For the past 40 years this image of Earth has been one of a few images that we have, but it has now finally been complimented with The Black Marble, stunning hi-res images of Earth at night.

No, I am not talking about mutants like the X-Men, but real disorders like Cystic Fibrosis or Down Syndrome. Genetic mutations can also cause addictions, for example to alcohol or nicotine. A new study though shows that the addiction to the Internet works in a similar way, through a genetic mutation.

Millions of people across the world suffer from eye degenerative conditions which lead eventually to blindness. Through years and years of research, scientists have now come up with an artificial eye retina which can bring back vision for those that have lost it due to this maladies.
You may not have noticed this yet, but overnight Google rolled out a new math function in search results. In the past if you typed 4+4 you would get the equation and answer shown, but now Google displays a fancy calculator in addition to the answer. So now right in Google you can do some advanced math. You can type the equation right into the Omnibox (search bar) to get the results, or go directly to Google.com and type the equation there to get it to come up. Alternatively if you just type “calculator” into the search, it will come up that way as well.
