Over the weekend before seeing the movie Brave, they had a trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, which looks like it’s going to be a really good animated movie, with a few of your favorite video game characters that you might remember from when you were younger.
This video called Go Right has a double meaning to it; certainly more meaning than what’s on the surface of video game characters always going ‘right’ during game play. It’s a nice catch from Buzzfeed. And with the music by Michael Nyman, and the great game compilation, it’s a winner in my book. Enjoy.
Lego builds can be fun, but for some, they take it to another level beyond what many of us can dream up. Some of these are mind boggling, for example the Super NES replica, pictured inset which holds an actual SNES cartridge, or this Porshe 918 Spyder replica pictured below.
In case you missed it yesterday, Google Maps played a really good practical joke on the world with their NES 8-bit Google Maps April Fools prank. Although it’s not April Fools day any longer, I went again to check it out some more and see that it’s still up.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, a special orchestra recorded a symphony of the Main Theme Medley for the iconic Nintendo game.
Nintendo 3DS recently released the first version of Mario Kart in 3D. To help Nintendo bring Mario Kart to life for an even bigger 3D experience, Nintendo commissioned West Coast Customs to build a life-size functional models of the Mario and Luigi cars. You might remember WC Customs from their popular MTV show with Xzibit where they would “pimp your ride.” They really outdid themselves though with their life-size Mario cars which were unveiled at the 2011 LA Auto Show.
Trust me when I say, I am normally always in favor of PETA. You know, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I have a soft spot for animals, so anytime I see some people abusing or otherwise exploiting animals it pisses me off, like most people.
Super Mario needs your help in the ongoing war against Bowser to save Princess Peach. That’s the theme of these really unique propaganda posters by Fro Design. Remember, “don’t let power ups fall into enemy hands!”
If you love all your new console games like Halo or God of War, but also love your NES nostalgia, 72 Pins has the solution for you. They take old NES game cartridges and create illustrations that have the old 8-bit pixelated touch to it for the new console games. Their FAQ states they don’t actually remake new games 8-bit style; only that they reuse old games to create the new-to-old game look.
Artist Donald Kennedy loves video games, so much so he creates some magnificent art figurines of tons of video game characters and scenes. You can see a few on his website Kody Koala. He made some cool custom Nintendo boardwalk cabinets of Mario the Iron Claw Game, Wario the Fortune Teller and a custom Elecman (Megaman) Cabinet.

Oh sorry, that was gibberish for: In Netherlands, students from Delft University of Technology built a Nintendo controller as part of the 21th anniversary of the study ETV (Electro Technical Society). The controller is fully functional and as you can see from the video, some can play games like Super Mario and Tetris really good with it.
Check out this NES video game mod where you can play NES on an NES cartridge. Using NES On A Chip (NOAC) which has the entire system on one chip, Kotomi was able mod an NES cartridge into a system where you can actually play NES games on it. It’s a bit quirky looking with the a game and controls hooked up, but it’s still pretty rad.
Old School, meet iPad. iPad, meet Old School. This is awesome on many levels, but I love this idea. This guy hacked his old style Nintendo controller to work with his iPad using conductive arms that simulate touches on screen. I would really think for NES, 8-bit, old school fans, Nintendo should make a controller compatible with a line of NES games for the iPad. New technology with games we love.
