Surprise: Newspaper readership is in a severe decline

In an annual report from the State of the Media, it shows that audience growth in media consumption has gone up in every sector except print. Newspapers are actually down -4%. Obviously the winner here is the digital space, with online growth up 17.2%. Television is still hanging in there, with actual positive growth in 2011.

Google sets it’s eyes on the digital newsstand market

The Wall Street Journal published an article that is really interesting on how Google is trying to enter the digital newsstand market with it’s Android OS.  Currently the market is dominated by Apple with iTunes and the iPad and iPhone.   Tablets are becoming more and more in demand with alternatives to the iPad such as the Galaxy Pad, IdeaPad, Win7 Touch Screen Tablet and some others.

Nike is making use of all the world’s newspapers

I think Nike is ahead of the game on this one.   They see that with the iPad and other new technology that newspapers are becoming short order.  What are we going to do with all the bajillions of wasted newspapers across the world?  Recycle them, of course.   And after that is done, Nike is going to turn them into shoes!   Nike Sportswear; Women’s Premium Print Pack to be exact.

U.S. newspapers to be obsolete by the year 2017

This is some very interesting predictions that he came up with.  I totally agree with services like Twitter and products like the iPad, iPhone, mobile phones, technology and even now GoogleTV, not many are actually using traditional newspapers to get their news and worldly information.
