imageWell, that didn’t take long. Thank you Internet, you are truly the best thing ever. In case you missed it, there was a big-ass meteor that struck Earth earlier today in Russia. It’s a big deal. But leave it up to the Internet to make fun of it. Kudos.

Shit Silicon Valley says

Riding the coattails of the Shit people say meme like Shit girls say and Shit black girls say, comes Shit Silicon Valley says. Written, filmed, and edited by Kate Imbach and Tom Conrad, they seem to capture the Valley in it’s funniest form.  Some of my favorite quotes from the video are: “I saw it on TechCrunch”, “It’s stealth, so I can’t say too much”, “I really don’t get Tumblr”, and “He’s like 14, he had his first exit when he was 9.”

Congrats to Buzzfeed for raising a $15.5 million round of financing

I gotta give up to the guys over at Buzzfeed, as I just read they raised a whole load of cash in a new series of funding. The New York native meme and breaking news aggregation site has made some headlines lately, most recently with scoring Ben Smith of Politico. With this move, Buzzfeed is basically looking to do a small pivot from LOLcats and memes to breaking political news as well and covering a wider range of topics.

A tale of horrible customer service and a PR shitstorm

Last night I was reading about a momentous epic fail by a company that screwed over it’s customers and tried to flaunt it in their face. The company is Ocean Marketing, who does third-party peripheral marketing, in this particular situation, gaming controllers. The backstory is that a customer named Dave ordered some controllers in November for Christmas from Ocean Marketing. With no communication from Ocean Marketing, he emailed them for info. That is when the shit hit the fan.

Images get remixed and social with 4Chan founder’s new site Canvas

4Chan founder Christopher Poole aka Moot just launched his new website called Canvas which is currently in beta. You may know 4Chan already and wonder if this is similar to what 4Chan already is. Yes it is similar, but Canvas looks to provide less of a shock and awe experience that 4Chan can bring and really beef up the image experience in a different way.

New YouTube video animation tools

YouTube has a new set of animation tools available.  Some of them you might already recognize like Xtranormal, which they have already been available.  But now the new animation tools are fully integrated into YouTube, so you can just create animated videos easily with your YouTube account (no extra sign up’s or anything required).  I just created a quick animation with GoAnimate just to see how easy it was to do.  It was fairly simple, and as you can see animations are great for creating memes.

Earlier today I learned that Urlesque will soon be shutting down to the hands of AOL.  So why not take a moment to reminisce on the best of Urlesque.  They brought us many meme’s, but some rose above the rest.  Here are some of those that I enjoyed the most!

Goodbye Internet. Sincerely, Urlesque.

Wow, AOL just dropped another bomb on the Internet. According to a Forbes post an hour ago, AOL is consolidating again.  There are several victims this time, including Urlesque.  If you have never been to the Urlesque site before, check it out, as it may be one of your last chances before AOL shuts it down and folds it under their HuffPost Comedy umbrella.  What a sad day!  Goodbye Urlesque.
