Despite the country’s shaky economy, this year’s Black Friday sales were a blowout: there were more shoppers online and in stores than ever before. Because of this increase, experts predict that the remainder of the holiday season will continue to put retailers in the black. But to keep up with the rush of sales, online retailers may need to temporarily increase their order fulfillment output for the holiday season.

A million check-ins isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A billion. That is what Foursquare is saying as they just reached over a billion check-ins with their location based service. That is one heck of a lot of people checking in.
Poor Google Plus. They got absolutely no love from College Humor in their new video. It is kind of funny and I totally get that the number of social networks is getting out of control. One thing about Google Plus is that they don’t allow syncing (not yet at least), so you don’t have to worry about syncing your Foursquare or Tumblr on the real Google Plus.
Checkin’s on Foursquare may get a whole lot more popular and fun with Foursquaropoly which is a new app under development. Originally started as a student concept, the idea is to use the classic board game Monopoly and integrate it into real life.
No, this is not a joke and yes, this is a real holiday. Mike Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City has officially declared that April 16 will be Foursquare Day. The proclamation is in honor of all the startups in the NYC area that are “thinking big, creating new jobs, and leading the global economy.” This includes of course Foursquare. This is the first social media holiday of it’s kind. This also opens the doors for additional holidays. I am thinking that Tumblr is in NYC, so they need a holiday too! Since Bloomberg is the Mayor of NYC, does this make him the official Mayor of Foursquare?
