Facebook finally ups the ante, and introduces a more intelligent search

Let’s be honest - Facebook Search sucks. It always has. If you are on Facebook and want search results comparable to Google’s search engine, it’s gonna happen. That is until now. Facebook is finally promising a better, more intelligent search, which is something to get excited about.

Track Mark Zuckerberg’s billions, and see how he makes out post-IPO

After the Facebook IPO, Mark Zuckerberg instantly became a billionaire many times over. Although, the FB stock isn’t doing as well as most would have liked. It started out with an IPO price of $38 a share, which made Zuck worth $19.14 billion. At the opening public price, it went up to $42 but has since bottomed out a bit, down as low as $30.94 and at $31.65 as of this writing.

I am Facebook

After all the details of the Facebook IPO yesterday, one thing has been made certain. The cash flow coming out of the IPO is going to make many people millionaires and billionaires. Let’s not forget where this all started though. Yes, Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook, we know. But without us, you and I, the users, Facebook would not exist. Therefore, speaking for everyone, I am Facebook. Don’t forget that, Zuck.

Some interesting tidbits about Facebook’s IPO

Earlier Facebook officially filed for their Initial Public Offering (IPO). In the filing statement, there is a lot of good details and interesting information I have come across so far. At a high level, I touched base on some factoids when I found out about the IPO, but after that I decided to dig deep into this very long and brutally detailed filing.

Here’s the full Charlie Rose interview with Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg

If you missed the PBS Charlie Rose interview with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg, here it is in it’s entirety. As much as I might think of Zuckerberg as immature and conceited, you have to admit in the past seven years Zuckerberg has really grown into his role. He is highly intelligent and has a vision that only a few people on the planet have been blessed with being able to make tangible.

Rare video of Zuckerberg drinking beer talking about Facebook

In what seems like ages ago back in 2005, Mark Zuckerberg did a 40 min interview for a small documentary called Now Entering: A Millennial Generation by Ray Hafner and Derek Franzese. In a post from HuffPo, they show a 5 min clip of Zuckerberg barefoot in shorts and a tee drinking beer talking about Facebook. They even pan out to show co-founder Dustin Moskovitz doing keg stands.

Zuck to be on the next cover of Mad Magazine

I’ll be honest and say I don’t really read a lot of Mad Magazine, but I do know who they are, primarly from the MadTV skits back on Fox in the 1990’s.  The mag goes back to the 1950’s.  Back then and through recent times magazines were, and still are a great way to get information.  With the Internet and online networking, magazines and newspapers are becoming a thing of the past.  Especially in Mad Mag’s case, where it’s such a niche mag, readership and subscriptions could possible be down. I have no idea, but I can assume that having Mark Zuckerberg grace the upcoming cover “The 50 Worst Things about Facebook” are probably a tell tale sign that they aren’t too happy where things are going.  Or, they could just be poking fun, as it appears they do quite often.

Mark Zuckerberg on SNL tonight (video)

The real Mark Zuckerberg made a surprise guest appearance on SNL tonight.  It was rumored all week that SNL was working hard to get the CEO of Facebook on the show but that he wouldn’t make it.  Well looks like he did.  His acting is….meh.  I think the creator of SNL Lorne Michael said it best in the clip: “Yeah, um, you are better off [staying] back stage.”

Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook page hacked (photo)

Today, only a short while ago it was reported that Facebook’s very own Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook page was hacked.  So not even he is immune to security breaches on Facebook.  Hopefully now he will take security more seriously on Facebook?  Who knows.  But it seems more and more hackers are targeting social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

Who has the biggest stake in Facebook? (Infograph)

Amidst the recent investment Goldman Sachs made in Facebook upping their valuation to $50bn, it prompted a neat graph to be made by Nico Lanter which was then picked up by reface.me.

The graph, shows who really owns Facebook and what percentages each stake is. I find it somewhat amusing that he described Sean Parker as “Justin Timberlake’s character in the movie [The Social Network]”.  Sean Parker is famous in his own right; he is the co-founder of Napster.  But maybe that is not widely known. Without further ado, check out the infograph after the jump to catch all the stats.
