They take old NES game cartridges and create illustrations that have the old 8-bit pixelated touch to it for the new console games. Their FAQ states they don’t actually remake new games 8-bit style; only that they reuse old games to create the new-to-old game look.

Incubus fights music pirates with new flash game

If you are a fan of Incubus’ music or you like to play old school 8-bit games akin to the Double Dragon era, you will like the new flash game that they have going. The game is dubbed Incubattle and it let’s you choose one of the Incubus band members and then you get to take on music pirates who have stolen tracks from the new Incubus album If Not Now, When?. There is 1-player and 2-player options.  This appears to be an interesting way to promote their new album and give the message, don’t pirate our ish!

8 bit artwork that comes to life

Shawn Smith, an artist in Texas likes to take thousands of small wooden blocks and create nature themed 8 bit art. The process is very intensive as he has to first conceptualize the art, design it, then cut each wooden piece by hand and paint each “pixel”. Then he has to glue each block pixel into place to create the final piece. The results are very interesting.

A Nintendo controller for your iPad

Old School, meet iPad.  iPad, meet Old School.  This is awesome on many levels, but I love this idea.  This guy hacked his old style Nintendo controller to work with his iPad using conductive arms that simulate touches on screen.  I would really think for NES, 8-bit, old school fans, Nintendo should make a controller compatible with a line of NES games for the iPad.  New technology with games we love.

Drunken Nintendo Breathalyzer

This is probably the best use of an old Nintendo system I have ever seen!  It’s called the Drunken-NES.  It’s a drinking game developed just for the old 8-bit NES.  You play by blowing into the game cartridge just like a breathalyzer.  Also just like you used to blow into the games when they wouldn’t work.  I love this.  I hope they make some that people can buy.
