The iPhone tracks and records your every location
Well, this can’t be good. A new report by data research scientists state that the iPhone tracks, records and keeps on file every location you have been to, up to one year.
There is a secret file on every iPhone device that stores your location and then, if you were to sync your iPhone to your computer/iTunes (which probably everyone does at some point), it transfers the file over to it. So the file becomes not-so-secret when that happens.
It’s said that Apple may be tracking everyone’s location possibly to be used for location based ad campaigns, but nonetheless it’s pretty worrying to know all this information is being recorded and stored. A tech savvy person could jailbreak the phone and be able to access the hidden file. Additionally, since the file is transferred when synced to your computer, it’s available there as well.
To show how easily your location can be found, the data research scientists Warden and Allan, created an app that you can download which will scan your computer for hidden synced files and if found, display all your locations you have been to!
Here is an example of the iPhone Tracker app they made showing a trip from DC to NY.
