Facebook’s EdgeRank algorithm illustrated
Facebook’s EdgeRank algorithm decides what stories shows up in your Newsfeed based on three variables: Affinity, Weight and Recency. The variables make up the algorithm which ultimately makes the difference between your posts being buried in the Newsfeed or shown as in a Top Story.
In this illustration below by CopyPress it’s explained how content is shared and consumed on Facebook using EdgeRank. The EdgeRank algorithm feeds into the Edge Store which is part of the Open Graph which Facebook uses to turn your Likes into contextual data.
Special thanks to Ripu DaMan Jain who clued me in on this informative illustration.
