Apple is looking into acquiring The Fancy

My favorite Pinterest competitor, The Fancy, has a new suitor by the name of Apple. According to Business Insider, Apple is in talks to purchase the social commerce site. The purpose of the acquisition would be for Apple to place it’s foot further into the eCommerce space. And considering Apple’s failure in Ping, they are desperatley trying to get back into the social market.

As I talked about just last month, The Fancy is a social product sharing site like Pinterest but better, and unlike Pinterest, The Fancy is geared more to the male demographic. Worth noting is that Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey and Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes are on the board. Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, the co-founders of venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, are also investors in The Fancy.

Most of this may be hearsay at this point, but it would be sweet to have Apple’s design and quality integrated into The Fancy. Feel free to connect with me on The Fancy. The image above is a wood iPhone4 case which you can buy on The Fancy for $100.
