Google adds advanced calculator to search results

You may not have noticed this yet, but overnight Google rolled out a new math function in search results. In the past if you typed 4+4 you would get the equation and answer shown, but now Google displays a fancy calculator in addition to the answer. So now right in Google you can do some advanced math. You can type the equation right into the Omnibox (search bar) to get the results, or go directly to Google.com and type the equation there to get it to come up. Alternatively if you just type “calculator” into the search, it will come up that way as well.

The Verge said the change may be part of the latest Panda release, version 3.9. Google has been making other changes to search results as well recently, such as the Knowledge Graph.
