New Honda Accords will have Facebook and Twitter integrated dashboards
Honda has coined it HondaLink, which integrates several social services directly into the dashboard of the new 2013 Honda Accord and Honda Crosstour. HondaLink will be using the Aha mobile app service to take these services and display them in the Honda vehicles.
Aha specializes in converting services like Facebook, Twitter and Yelp into audio feeds. So instead of reading your friend’s Facebook status updates, while driving you will be able to listen to them, or to tweets and food reviews via Yelp. According to CNET, the HondaLink dashboard will simply be a mask of the Aha app, rebranded for HondaLink.
You will need a mobile device in order to use HondaLink. The way it will work is you would pair let’s say your iPhone to your Honda, using the HondaLink app. Then when driving, it would sync right to your car’s dashboard where you could press Facebook or Twitter to start listening to the feeds. As you can imagine, there will be restrictions on what you can do, for example you won’t be able to update your own status on Facebook or Twitter while driving. So what fun is that!?
The HondaLink app also has other helpful and advantageous functions such as battery check, activate the car’s climate system, roadside assistance and maps.
