YouTube now allows you to blur faces in videos
In a blog post yesterday, YouTube announced a new feature for users who upload videos to the video website which allows you to blur people’s faces in the video.
As social media and news is constantly fueled by every day people with mobile devices in hand, it’s sometimes necessary especially in cases where one could be in danger by having their face seen by many, to have it blurred - it helps keep anonymity which has become extremely important in cases like Arab Spring and in war torn countries.
The new face blurring tool is quite simple to use. After uploading a video, click on Enhance video and at the bottom under Additional Features apply the Blur All Faces feature, as shown below. YouTube will preview the video to you, so you can see how the effect will look, and if it’s to your satisfaction. With the face blurring tool, it’s all or nothing. All faces will be blurred, or no faces; there is no specificity on individual face blurring and depending on the angle, lighting and video quality, it’s possible some faces won’t be able to be blurred.
