Fancy that, Pinterest

Virtual image pinboard Pinterest is all the rage these days. It’s taken off like wildfire to much praise. I myself have doubted it success, however, it seems that Pinterest seems to be going strong. One thing though that has come up over and over again about Pinterest is that it’s used mostly by the female demographic, with women’s fashion, food recipes and the like dominating the space.

I personally don’t “pin” however, I have reviewed the site several times and have noticed this trend as well. In fact, 97% of users on Pinterest are women. But what about the guys, what do we have - well I think I have found our way, fellas.

It’s not really a brand new site, but it’s still taking off and not yet widely known. It’s called The Fancy, but don’t let the name fool you. In November last year The Fancy received a $10 million round of funding with a valuation of $100 million. I have been using the site for a few days now and I am completely in love with it. It’s a Tumblr style product sharing site, also like Pinterest but with lots of products for men. Oh yeah, and best of all - you can actually purchase the items you see and like right on the site, making it Amazon-esque and blowing Pinterest out of the water.

Some of the categories for guys on The Fancy are Gadgets, Cars & Vehicles, Men’s Fashion, Home, Workspace and more. Don’t worry ladies, there are categories for you too! The Fancy is well designed with the user in mind. The mobile UX app is even better, and I actually prefer using The Fancy on it’s iOS application, which you can link to your Facebook and/or Twitter to share items you fancy.

The Fancy does have social built into it, and you can find and follow users and share items with each other. Since I just started fancy’ing a few days ago, you can find me here to add me.
