Say goodbye to light switches, and hello to the INSTEON app controlled light bulb

The INSTEON LED Bulb is not just any ordinary light bulb, it’s way better. It’s the world’s first networked dimmable light bulb. Plus, it’s an LED bulb, so you get the same energy saving and long lasting bulbs, but with the added benefit of it being a networked bulb.

Well, what does that mean? It means that the bulb has a wireless receiver built into it, so it can be connected to a remote control or even better, your iPhone or Android device using an app (iOS/Android). You can connect multiple bulbs to one device to control the bulbs or you can connect multiple devices to one bulb. There are many options, but no longer do you need to get up to flip a switch, you can just dim the lights from the couch.

The bulbs are pricey, since it’s a new age idea. They run $29.99 each right now, but as they become more mainstream hopefully they will begin to cost less and be more affordable. Here’s a video from the maker, Insteon which shows the iPhone app and bulb in action.
