Apple gets with the times and adds gay and lesbian emoticons
Breaking news! Ok not really breaking, but an interesting catch by a reader of Gizmodo who got a glimpse of the new iOS6 update. In the update in the emoticons section, there are two new additions: a gay male couple and a lesbian female couple, who are pictured inset holding hands.
It looks like Apple finally got with the times and although it’s a small change, it will mean a lot to the gay and lesbian community. To the real question though - why don’t either of the two new couples have a nose or a mouth, like the others?
If you have never seen these emoticons on your Apple device before, then sorry to say “you’re doing it wrong.” To get the emoticons it’s quite simple. Just go to your device Settings, tap General, tap Keyboard, tap International Keyboards and tap Add New Keyboard. Find and add “Emoji” and you’re done. Now, you are doing it right!
