Facebook now has over 900 million active users

Facebook just passed a momentous turning point in the number of active users it has. For a while, they were in the 800-850 million user threshold, but in an amendment to their S-1 IPO filing, they say they now have 901 million active users.

Facebook is now less than 100 million users away from 1 billion total active users, which once that happens you can expect probably the biggest of big events from Facebook as it will be a huge deal. I can imagine a glorified press conference, but it surely be deserved as at that point one, in seven people in the world will be on the social networking giant’s website.

News from earlier today about Facebook, is that they purchased 650 of Aol’s patents with Microsoft, which will further expand on their intellectual property portfolio, which will certainly help them succeed in world domination; oops I mean social networking superiority.
