The new iPad boasts a better camera and retina display
Those that were expecting a miracle from the new iPad (iPad third gen) may be a little disappointed, but not too badly. The new iPad event just ended a short time ago, with announcements of some nice new features for iPad lovers.
The new iPad, which looks pretty much the same as iPad 2, will have a much better rear-facing camera. The new camera will be 5 megapixels, which will provide a far better image quality than the second gen iPad. Most like myself were expecting 8 megapixels to match up to the new iPhone 4S, but this is still a great improvement and is heading down the expected path of Apple producing great photography products.
Another big announcement is the retina display. The screen resolution got a huge increase from 1024 x 768 to 2048 x 1536 retina display. The new resolution will have one million more pixels than HD-TV! The new iPad will run iOS 5 which was expected as well, but again, many including myself thougth Siri would be included in the next gen version. According to Apple the new iPad will have a dictation feature which should be powered by Siri, but won’t have all the same features that iPhone 4S has with Siri.
Some other notable improvements are the dual core CPU using A5X and the improved battery life which almost doubles the old battery life. The new iPad will also be a touch heavier and thicker. The cost will run you $499 and will still be at 16, 32 and 64GB.
