Facebook is the largest photo site on the Internet

Facebook is the largest social networking site around. But did you know they are also the largest photo site on the Internet? Which by the way, the Internet consists of 55 billion different webpages! Facebook is king all around and it doesn’t look like anyone can stop them.

An engineer on the Facebook Photos team said that Facebook currently has over 200 million photos uploaded per day, or around 6 billion per month. There are currently [as of Jan. 25, 2011] almost 90 billion photos total on Facebook. This would put Facebook at around 140 billion uploaded photos as of September 2011 at a staggering rate of 6 billion uploads per month.
