The world’s first 3D printed skateboard

Created by Sam Abbott, a somewhat simple DIY project turned an idea into reality. 3D printing as I’ve said a few times before, is still a new technology and phenomenon that hasn’t fully taken off yet, mainly due to costs. However, this is the perfect example of the creativity and possibilities of 3D printing.

In three printed pieces, Abbott was able to put together a skateboard. He then put the struts and wheels on the completed board, and voila. You have a rideable skateboard. Obviously this is a proof of concept, meaning, Abbott and others might not be doing big hard landings on this board, as it may snap. However, with additional stabilization, I’m sure it would be possible.
