image

Facebook’s highly talked about and now famous IPO is going to happen at any moment now. At a valuation at $100 billion and counting, it will be one of the biggest IPO’s to date, three times larger than Starbucks. Is it all that it’s cracked up to be though? Uh oh, a porn company is suing Tumblr for $5 million

image

Anyone that uses Tumblr knows that there is a certain level of porn in your stream. Of course you have the choice to follow these users that post it or not, but sometimes it just happens. Or you could go hard, and check out the Tumblr porn tag search for loads of pornography (NSFW). It’s mostly spam, but again, many legit users post porn to the social blogging site and in a new lawsuit from the Perfect 10 porn company, they aren’t happy about the copyright infringements and are suing Tumblr for a lot of money.

Good or bad idea: Implanted magnets under skin for strapless iPod Nano

image

Body piercer Dave Hurban thought it would be an interesting idea to mesh body modification and technology. He decided to use an iPod Nano, with the idea of not having a wrist strap as used on a more conventional wrist-watch version of the iPod.

Now this is how you wake up a three year old

image

Anyone who has woken up a sleeping toddler or baby for that fact, knows it can potentially be a nightmare waiting to happen, with loads of crankiness and teary eyes to follow. This is the first time I have seen a toddler wake up, and not only be fine, but playing the air drums like a champ during mid-sleep! What a cute video. I hope this kid grows up to play drums for some famous band one day.

Watch 100 balloons get popped with a laser pointer

image

High-powered laser pointers can cause a lot of harm if you don’t know what your doing, or if you’re being malicious. Think of those news reports where people would aim laser pointers at pilots in an airplane. They are very powerful, and Wicked Lasers makes the S3 Krypton laser pointer, which actually has a range of up to 85 miles.

Get smart about email marketing: the mobile movement

image

Email marketing is an ever-evolving medium. As the oldest form of Internet marketing, people like to think that email has declined in the face of newer methods of reaching the growing Internet populous. Those people seem to forget that they probably have multiple email accounts and are subscribed to a few e-newsletters. Email communication is actually alive, well and on the rise.

22 cool objects you can print with a 3D printer

image

Being able to replicate a three-dimensional object that you hold in your hands by printing it on a printer might seem like a far fetched idea from the future, but it’s actually becoming a reality. It’s called 3D printing, and you may have heard of it recently, and is becoming increasingly more popular these days by hobbiysts.

Watch and listen as a flash mob on the Copenhagen Metro plays Peer Gynt

image

If only I could have been on this metro, it would have been so cool to see this flash mob surprise all the passengers and break out in an orchestra playing Peer Gynt. The musicians are all part of the Copenhagen Philharmonic. It looks like this isn’t the first time they have done this type of flash mob either, where they also had one in 2011 at the Copenhagen Central Station playing Ravel’s Bolero.

Facebook is launching the App Center to try to solve the app discovery problem

image

Facebook announced a new venture that they plan to launch in the near future - a mobile App Center, which will be a neutral mobile app discovery tool on the social networking platform. The goal of the App Center will be to have one central location to find social apps, clearly since Facebook dominates social they want to harvest it as much as possible - with mobile being the future - this was a very strategic move. Being neutral between Apple and Google is key, so it’s one place to find apps regardless of what platform you use.

The Instagram camera, somebody had to make it

image

Instagram is so popular these days; so why not have an actual camera in real life, that can take the Intstagram photos, which you can immediately print out? Polaroid did it, why not Instagram. Unfortunately, this amazing and beautiful looking camera is just a concept design.

The most epic case mod to date, the Star Wars AT-AT

image

When it comes to computer case modifications, I have seen some very creative ones in the past. I particularly liked the Wall-E case mod, but this one takes the cake. It’s a perfect looking replica of a Star Wars AT-AT, with some awesome glowing red lights in the interior, which opens up from the outside. Geekologie says it “looks impressive.” Yeah, I’d say so! The AT-AT case mod was created by Asphiax.
