Iran to build their own Internet

As if the World Wide Web isn’t enough, Iran feels the need to build their own
Internet. But this isn’t to innovate, it’s to censor. According to a new report from the WSJ, Iran plans to shut down the global Internet as we know it and run their own national Internet so they can have full control and restrict anything they feel they need to. In light of the recent Middle East and North Africa protests
fueled by Social Media, Iran maybe seriously thinking about taking a long term strategy to implement a statewide censorship. The new national Internet could possibly be in place in less than two years.
